Because of the construction of run flat tyres.Thus,and in line with most other tyre fitting stations. We at Pellon tyres DO NOT repair run flat tyres, following a puncture repair. Especially relevant if the tyre has lost pressure or has been driven on.As a result,one of the biggest problems that we have.Is that we do not know if the tyre has been run when flat or not.Of course, this could cause structural damage.As expected, that we cannot detect.If repaired could cause serious problems.Especially, when later driven on. Some tyre manufacturers say differing things.For this reason, here is an excerpt from what Bridgestone say about their run flat tyres
“Can I repair a punctured Bridgestone Run flat tyre?
With certain types of punctures in the tread area, the Bridgestone Run-Flat technology tyres may be repaired subject to certain conditions (Depending on how far and at what speed the car was driven after the puncture). Please consult your nearest RFT authorized dealer to have your tyres inspected.
Before attempting a repair, consult the vehicle owner's manual for restrictions. The vehicle manufacturer may restrict the use of repaired tires on its vehicles”.
As you can see. In my opinion, the part in brackets is a grey area, “how far and at what speed” who knows? Most tyre retailers are responsible people. Hence, have the customer and other road user’s safety at heart. We also think long and hard before making these decisions.
