Wiper Blade and Car Bulb Replacement in Halifax
Wiper Blade and Car Bulb Replacement in Halifax
A clear windscreen and working lights make a real difference on our roads. Around Halifax and Calderdale, rain, road spray and dark winter afternoons can quickly show up worn wiper blades or a failed bulb.
Here at Pellon Tyres and Autocentre, we can help with replacement wiper blades and many common car bulbs. If you are unsure what your vehicle needs, our team can check before fitting replacement parts.
How do you know your wiper blades need replacing?
Look for streaks, smearing, missed patches or rubber that is split or coming away from the blade.
Chattering or squeaking can also indicate a problem, although dirt on the glass or blade may contribute. Cleaning the windscreen and wiping the rubber gently with a damp cloth can help remove contamination.
If the blades still leave you struggling to see, have them checked and replace them when necessary.
Do not wait until a heavy downpour on the M62 to discover that your wipers cannot clear the screen properly.
How often should you change wiper blades?
There is no single replacement interval that suits every vehicle.
Sunlight, frost, dirt and regular use can all affect the rubber. Inspect your blades regularly, particularly before winter and longer journeys, and follow any manufacturer’s recommendations.
Replace damaged or ineffective blades promptly rather than relying on their age alone.
Choose blades that fit your car
Wiper blades vary in length, design and attachment. The driver’s and passenger’s blades may be different sizes, and the rear blade often has its own fitting.
We can supply and fit suitable blades, including Michelin options where available for your vehicle.
Some cars require the wipers to be placed in a service position before lifting the arms. Following the correct procedure helps avoid damage to the bonnet, arms or windscreen.
Do not forget the washers and rear wiper
Good blades cannot do their job properly if the washer bottle is empty or the jets are blocked.
Use suitable screenwash at the concentration recommended for the weather. Check the rear wiper too, if fitted, as its rubber can deteriorate just like the front blades.
In frosty weather, free frozen blades and clear the windscreen before operating the wipers. Do not use them to scrape away ice.
Car bulb replacement at Pellon
We can check and replace many common headlight, sidelight, indicator, brake light, fog light and number plate bulbs.
We often use Ring Automotive bulbs, selecting the correct specification for the vehicle.
A failed light is not always caused by the bulb. Wiring, connections, fuses or other components may need checking.
What about LED lighting?
Modern vehicles use several different lighting systems. Some have replaceable light sources, while others use integrated LED assemblies that require a different repair approach.
We will check the system fitted to your car and explain the available options. Replacement lights must be suitable for the lamp and meet the applicable road-use requirements.
Can you have them fitted while you wait?
Many straightforward wiper and bulb replacements can be completed while you wait, depending on parts availability, access and workshop workload.
You are welcome to call in. If you are travelling from Elland, Sowerby Bridge, Brighouse or Bradford, phone first so we can check what is available.
